Yes, the Parish as well as individual municipalities have curfew laws.

City of New Iberia
Sunday - Thursday 10:00 PM until 5:00 AM

Friday & Saturday 12:00 AM until 5:00 AM

City of Loreauville
Sunday - Thursday 10:00 PM until 5:00 AM

Friday & Saturday 12:00 AM until 5:00 AM

City of Loreauville
Sunday - Thursday 10:00 PM until 6:00 AM
Friday & Saturday 12:00 AM until 6:00 AM

Parish Ordinance 17-11.l: 11.2
Day Time:
*Minors age 5 to 16, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. during the school year, must remain in the domicile or family home. Minors are allowed in public ONLY in the presence of a parent or guardian.

Night Time:
*Any Minor Under 17 Years of Age between the hours of 10 p.m. and
5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 12 a.m. to 5 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays, must remain in the domicile or family home. Minors are allowed in public ONLY in the presence of a parent or guardian.

 

When is it OK to skip school?

It is never OK skip school. Your education is your greatest tool for a better future. The law says that during school hours school age children must be in their home, in school or with a parent or guardian.
